State of the art telephony, multi-site working,
disaster recovery, and much more...
VoIP or Voice over Internet Protocol is a general term that covers a number of different applications. In essence VoIP is the use of the internet to transport voice information between locations. This can result in a great reduction in overheads, tremendous flexibility, and improved productivity.
For example, you may be moving offices and not be able to retain your telephone number due to the distance you are moving. With VoIP you can! We can port your number into our system so you can take it wherever you like.
At the same time, you may wish to downsize your office and have some members of staff working from home. If that’s the case, they simply take their VoIP handset home, plug it into their broadband, and they are part of the system. They can answer, transfer, hold etc… exactly as if they were in the office!
Single & Multi-site Working
People often see VoIP as only having value for multi-site organisations; however, even if your company operates from one site, there are many advantages.
For example, replacing your existing system with VoIP means you'll never have to buy another system again! All you need to purchase are handsets, everything else is done elsewhere with a system that is always evolving and 'bang up to date'!
If your company does have multiple offices, each with a number of staff that have a regular requirement to call each other, the use of 'SIP Trunking' between sites allows each office to be independent, having its own system and telephone lines, but utilises VoIP to make inter-office calls free.
Even more efficient, VoIP can be used to remove the need for separate systems at each site by moving entirely into the 'Hosted' environment. This enables the free transferring of calls between offices (for example if a client has called the wrong branch), and the ability for remote office to help taking calls during busy periods, etc etc...
Remote & Home Working
All of the telephone systems that we supply have the ability to connect VoIP handsets. This means that remote workers can have a telephone extension connected directly to the office telephone system wherever they have an internet connection. Calls between this handset and other office extensions are free, and any calls to external numbers a charged to the office phone bill.
For example, your office may be based in Bristol but you have a home worker based in Manchester. If that home worker has a VoIP extension installed, calls answered by reception can be transferred through to them at no charge. The home worker can also help to answer incoming calls during busy periods and so on.
SIP Trunks
Although the industry is now very much focused on Fully Hosted VoIP Systems, there are some scenarios where a PBX is the preferred option. For example, a large call centre with hundreds of extensions, a remote rural location where the broadband isn't fast enough for VoIP, or a hotel where an on-site system is required to interact with hotel management software.
Our hardware systems offer 'hybrid' features allowing connectivity to VoIP services to offer you the best of both worlds. So, with all the talk at the moment of ISDN being phased out, your investment in a traditional PBX won't be a wasted one; with a simple upgrade, your system can be connected to SIP Trunks (VoIP) without having to replace all of your hardware.
